• Individual Therapy
• Family Therapy
• School Outreach
• Group Therapy
• Mental Health Supports
• Crisis Intervention
• Teen Pregnancy Support Services
• Case Management
What do we do?
Mental Health Outpatient Services provide a full range of psychotherapeutic services to children, adolescents, and their families in the cities of Lynchburg and Bedford, and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell. These services may include case management, medication management,
and therapy, parenting support / education, and outreach services. Therapists are trained
in a variety of evidence based treatment
approaches to meet the needs of children, adolescents, and their families. Therapeutic interventions consist of individual therapy, family therapy, group therapy, play therapy, and sand tray therapy. Specialty groups include various groups for girls, a teen pregnancy group, and anger management groups for boys and girls. We provide outreach and coordinate services with the school system, local departments of social services, juvenile court service units, and make referrals in the community as necessary.
In addition, we offer three specialized programs:
VOCA - The Victims of Crime Assistance services provide therapy to children, adolescents, and adults who are victims of neglect, abuse, or other traumatic events.
Forensics Services - Provides sex offender evaluations, sex offender treatment groups, detention services, specialized outpatient services for adjudicated youth,
Evaluation of Juvenile Competency to Stand Trial
and restoration to competency services.
Independent Living Program - Provides intensive therapeutic services
to include education, treatment and case
management. This program is unique in that it offers a
comprehensive assessment of youth’s ability to live independently. Based on the assessment of needs an individualized plan of care is
created to teach skills necessary, provide treatment or case management
services.
Who do we work with?
We work with children and adolescents through age 21 and their families who are in need of outpatient care.
