What do we do?

     Mental Health Outpatient services include, group, and family therapy for persons age 18 and older with mental health, mental retardation, and/or substance abouse issues as defined in the current Diagnostic Services Manual of the American Psychiatric Association.

     Substance Abuse Outpatient services include individual, group, and family therapy and psychoeducation according to a three-phase model. Phase I is education and motivational enhancement. Phase II is primary treatment, especially the intensive outpatient program for persons with substance dependence. Phase III is continuing care services for ongoing support.

Who do we work with?

     Mental Health and Substance Abuse Outpatient services are provided for persons aged 18 and older in Planning District II who will benefit from any of the available levels of care. Our goal is to provide quality care that promotes the health, self-worth, and well being of individuals and their families in the least restrictive setting that is appropriate to their needs. Integration of mental health, substance abuse, and mental retardation counseling services is a primary goal of outpatient services; to serve persons with co-occurring disorders in one setting.

How do I make a referral to one of these programs?

     Anyone can refer to our programs by calling (434) 847-8035. Weekly orientation groups are offered for prospective consumers to learn about services and receive an intake appointment. An Access clinician is available from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday to assist with walk-in inquiries and referrals.
