The Specialized Outpatient Services program, is based at the Langhorne Road Child & Family Center in Lynchburg, provides and manages outpatient services for children and adolescents throughout the CVCS catchment area. Outpatient services are available at the Lynchburg site and in the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell, as well as, out of catchment areas such as: Charlotte, Charlottesville, Goochland, Halifax, Nelson, Pittsylvania, and Roanoke. The Outpatient team also provided services to children in 31 area schools. Services provided are the following:
- Individual Therapy
- Family
- Group Treatment
All consumers who enter services are assigned at a minimum to a case manager who provides active case management to address consumer needs and continue assessment of those needs. This year the Outpatient team was successful in eliminating the waiting list the first six months. In the second six months, we had to establish a waiting list due to staffing. Referrals exceeded staff capacity.
In Fiscal Year 2004, Mental Health therapy was provided to 540 consumers and Substance Abuse services provided to 252. Our VOCA program served 148 consumers with 33 of these consumers involved in the court process.
The team has increased their clinic hours in the counties. Amherst County increased from one day a week to a therapist two days a week and a case manager one-day a week. Campbell County increased from a therapist two days a week to a therapist full time five days a week and another therapist one-day a week. Bedford County increased from two therapists one-day a week to a total of seven days coverage a week utilizing three therapists. In Appomattox County, we increased the number of days from 1½ to 3 days per week.
Major accomplishments included successful grant renewals for both the VOCA & Independent Living Programs. VOCA has been approved for the next two years with an 11% increase in funding. CVCS is one of the few clinical treatment facilities to be awarded this grant in the State of Virginia. Most grantees are prevention or CASA programs.
