What are Emergency Services?
Emergency Intake Services and Evaluation
Crisis Intervention Services
Case Management / Hospital Liaison Services
What do we do?
Intake Services are the initial assessment and diagnostic stage for all child and adolescent services. Intakes are available to any child or adolescent who is in need of additional services. After intake, referrals are made to the appropriate service.
Crisis Intervention Services are provided when a child or adolescent presents a danger to him/herself or others. Suicide and homicide risk assessments, Temporary Detention Orders (TDO's) and Pre-screenings are performed in both a hospital setting and at the Child and Family Center. Twenty-four (24) hour services are available through on-call personnel, the Lynchburg General Hospital Emergency Room, and Bedford Memorial Emergency Room.
Case Management/ Hospital Liaison Services are available when a child or adolescent is hospitalized in a state facility and is in need of service coordination to return to the community.
Who do we work with?
Crisis Intervention Services are provided for any child or adolescent who is in need of an assessment for suicide and/or homicide risk, or presents a danger to self or others.
Case Management/ Hospital Liaison Services are provided for any child or adolescent who is currently in a state hospital and is preparing for discharge.
How do I make a referral to one of these programs?
Simply contact the Child and Family Center to set up an intake appointment or to request an emergency evaluation. After 5 p.m., on weekends, and on holidays, walk-in emergency evaluations are conducted at the Lynchburg General Emergency Room or Bedford Memorial Emergency Room.
