Intake Services is the initial assessment for children and adolescents with mental retardation. Services are available to any mentally retarded child or adolescent who is in need of targeted case management and/or waiver services. After intake, referrals are made to the appropriate services by the case manager.
Case Management Services: Case managers focus on assisting mentally retarded children, adolescents, and their families with services in their community. These services include but are not limited to: Supportive level counseling, Linking with community resources, IEP/School assistance, Enhancing community resources, Monitoring quality of services, and the Accessing of needed services.
Evaluation for Mental Retardation Waiver Services: In order to be eligible for waiver funded services, a child or adolescent must have mental retardation, or if under age six, must be at risk for mental retardation. The child or adolescent will be assessed for their Level of Functioning and must demonstrate need for Waiver Services by meeting specific level of care criteria.
