Central Virginia Community Services (CVCS) has been a solid contributor to the
behavioral health needs of the central region of Virginia since 1969.
Community services were created by local governments to address the needs of people with mental illness,
mental retardation, and substance abuse. At CVCS, though, we have much more to offer. Our approach is to provide quality services
in a timely manner to the people in our community. Our goal is to help improve the health, independence, and self-worth of our clients.
We are also dedicated to providing community education, early intervention, treatment, and aftercare services.
All programs at CVCS, that were in operation as of May 20, 2002, were certified by
CARF, a highly respected healthcare certification body
that examines procedures, operations, and quality of services. The administrative programs that are accredited include: Corporate Compliance,
Quality Improvement, Human Resources, Reimbursement Services, Fiscal Services, and Information Technology. Programs accredited for Adult &
Family and Child & Family include: Prevention Services, Access to Care and Case Management Services, Intensive Outpatient Services,
Intensive Home-Based Services, Crisis Intervention, Kindred Homes and Blueprints Therapeutic Foster Care, Family Support Programs,
Educational Support Services, Day Treatment Programs, Substance Abuse Services including Neways (Adolescent Substance Abuse), Pegasus,
Psychosocial Rehabilitation at Hudson House, Part C, Project Daniel, Medical and Psychiatric Services, Medical
Detoxification Unit, Respite Services, Community Support, Census Reduction, PACT (Program for Assertive Community Treatment), and
Continuing Care Services. Our Adult Living Facilities in Altavista, Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Lynchburg, as well as our Intensive
Care Facilities, Timothy & Bethany Homes, are all accredited.
Our efforts to follow all federal, state, and local regulations are also overseen by our internal Department of Corporate Compliance.
