The Parent Council of the Central Virginia Community Services’ Child and Family Center was recently honored by Mental Health America of Central Virginia with the “2007 Consumer Advocacy” award.

The Council was noted for efforts in the state on their advocacy for children. Council members follow legislative developments that affect children and communicate with legislators during key votes. Participants also volunteer in the Parent Center by organizing the clothing closet, distributing school supplies and winter coats, assisting with holiday food boxes, and reviewing Child and Family Center programs and services.

Congratulations to the members of the Parent Council for their hard work on behalf of children!
